CORTEN is a type of steel with a low content of alloy elements and high mechanical resistance.
The use of this steel has become very popular all over the world thanks to its numerous and favourable applications.

The success of CORTEN derives from its two main characteristics:

• High CORrosion resistance
• High TENsile strength

The excellent resistance offered by CORTEN to atmospheric corrosion, allows the use of the untreated product or, if it is painted, it markedly reduces maintenance requirements.
Unpainted CORTEN, once it is exposed to the weather, oxidizes and acquires a coating that, as well as blocking further corrosion, gives the product a brownish colour which harmoniously adapts to various aesthetic solutions.

WE use three types of CORTEN:

• TYPE A: especially suitable for architectural uses since its chemical composition gives it a resistance to atmospheric agents that is eight times higher than that of normal carbon steel.
• TYPE B and C: particularly appropriate for "infrastructures" thanks to their high mechanical resistance.
